Meet GlossBoss Quinta Brunson

From the girl who had never been on a nice date to an Emmy award winner

As the youngest in her family, Quinta Brunson entertained her whole family and now she is entertaining the whole world.

Born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Quinta Brunson had always had a love for comedy. Initially, she studied at Temple University and joined the comedy show, 'Templed Smash'. Quinta was obsessed with Saturday Night Live and dreamed of being on the show. She studied the cast members on the show to learn how she could be making people laugh right along side them. Realizing most of them had gone to The Second City Improv troupe in Chicago, Quinta went to visit her boyfriend who lived there at the time and checked out the troupe. Still in school she would escape to Chicago's Second City whenever she could.

Eventually, she dropped out of school and moved to Chicago to join The Second City full time.

From the Windy City to the City of Angles, Quinta's comedy soared to new heights as her videos went viral. Before all the views on social media, Quinta worked at the Apple store to make ends meet and continued to work on her improv. Joking about how she felt 'weird' about being a black girl who couldn't make her butt clap, her friend recorded her and convinced her to post the video online. That was the first of many videos that would help push Quinta into the limelight.

In 2014, Quinta created the now viral video that not only gained her recognition, it gained her a healthy profit too. After the instant success of her instagram video, she turned it into a series and sold T-shirts. Quinta admitted that she didn't spend her money wisely and despite making money, Quinta couldn't even take herself on a nice day because she was broke.

Luckily, a small cameo in a friend's video led her to start working at Buzzfeed. There, she wrote, starred and produced several popular sketches. At the age of 26 she became one of the youngest video content creators at Buzzfeed Motion Pictures. Despite her success, the job at Buzzfeed started getting in the way of her real dream; to write sitcoms.

Eventually, she left and her dream came true. She worked on various TV projects like Big Mouth and A Black Lady Sketch Show before leading her own. Quinta is the star, writer, producer and creator of the hit ABC show Abbott Elementary. Abbott Elementary is a mockumentary about teachers in an underfunded Philadelphia school system. The show was inspired by Quinta's mother who worked as a teacher. Within its first season, the show brought in ratings that quadrupled those of Modern Family.

Quinta is living her dream of making people laugh because she wasn't afraid to go for it!

Remember if she can do it, you can too! 💖
